The Obama Administration has wasted no time in declaring war on Evangelical Christians. Within minutes after the new President took his oath of office, his staff posted his agendas concerning homosexuality and abortion on the White House website.

Sexual Perversion

With regard to sexual perversion, the President’s policy goals are spelled out as follows:

1) Defeat all state and federal constitutional efforts to defend the definition of biblical marriage as being a union between one man and one woman.

2) Repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) signed by Bill Clinton. (This is currently the only line of defense keeping all 50 states from being forced to recognize so-called “same-sex marriages” from extremely liberal states like Massachusetts and Connecticut.)

3) Repeal the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

4) Pass “hate crimes” legislation granting homosexuals and cross dressers special rights denied to other Americans. (This legislation, depending on how it is drafted, could even attempt to muzzle any criticism of homosexuality as being unbiblical and unnatural perversion.)

5) Pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which would force business owners (religious and otherwise) to abandon traditional values relative to sexual morality under penalty of law.

6) Create intentionally motherless and fatherless homes by expanding “gay adoption.” To see it for yourself, go to www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/civil_rights/ and scroll down the page to “Support for the LGBT Community.” (LGBT is an acronym for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered.”)

Abortion

With regard to abortion, The President’s agenda is:

1) Opposition to any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court’s abortion decision in Roe v Wade.

2) Support of the Prevention First Act which would provide access to contraception and “preventive services to help reduce unintended pregnancies” (a euphemism for abortion).

Although it is not mentioned on the website, the President has made it clear that he will support the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). In fact, he promised Planned Parenthood that signing the FOCA would be “the first thing I’d do as President.” FOCA is by far the most radical piece of abortion legislation ever introduced into the Congress.

According to pro-choice advocates:

FOCA would overturn the ban on the barbaric procedure called “partial-birth abortion.”
FOCA would invalidate scores of pro-life laws passed by dozens of states.
FOCA would eliminate existing laws against taxpayer-funded abortions.

Consequences to the Nation

This outrageous attack on biblical morals should come as no surprise to anyone. The American voters were warned time and time again during the presidential campaign that Obama would push the most radical homosexual and abortion agenda in American history. But millions voted for charisma and eloquence rather than paying attention to the issues.

I cannot overemphasize how critical a situation we are facing in this country. We are in the midst of a great financial crisis and we have enemies worldwide who desire to destroy us. I want to see President Obama succeed in solving our financial crisis and defending this nation against Islamic terrorism. But he has literally no hope of succeeding as long as he thumbs his nose at God and God’s Word.

In addition to pushing homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and abortion, he has also made it clear that he will demand a division of the land of Israel as part of a “two-state solution.” These policies are national suicide.

God cannot be mocked, nor can He be deceived (Galatians 6:7). He will not sit idly by and allow our nation to turn its back on Him and do what we please. We have been blessed more mightily than any other nation in history, and to those to whom much is given, much is expected (Luke 12:47-48).

Call to Prayer

We need to pray as we have never prayed before for our President. We need to pray for his heart to be softened and his ideas to be conformed to God’s Word (Proverbs 21:1). And we need to pray that all his efforts to implement policies contrary to God’s Word will be confused, frustrated, and defeated.

The Obama installation brought such sycophantic inspiration to one network broadcaster that when he saw video rolling of a large flock of pigeons flying above the throngs milling about Washington D.C. on inauguration day, he made a statement that would have the journalism professors of Edward R. Murrow’s day cringing with editorial rage. This is second-hand from a “Fox and Friends” host I heard Thursday morning, January 22, laughingly ridicule the statement. The “Fox and Friends” host said the reporter commented something like: “I’ve never seen anything like this. Even the birds are expressing joy and hope over the events of today.” The quotation isn’t exact, but was even more giddy, as I recall the incredulous Fox pundit recounting the statement.

This won’t be a “hit piece” on our new president. He has just begun to govern. Despite the campaign rhetoric and all of the deals that were ostensibly made with many supporter organizations whose philosophies we consider counter to being in America’s best interest , and even though his expressions of intention in the several days since he took the oath seem ominous, he deserves the courtesy of our reserving judgment until we actually see what he will do in these opening days of his presidency. There is, too, the biblical commandment that we pray for those in authority so that our days will be peaceful.

We at RaptureReady do pray for the 44th president. Our prayers consist of petitions that he is successful on America’s behalf IF he governs within God’s holy will. We do not pray that he is successful in ramming through Congress, or by presidential order, any policy or law that is in any way against God’s prescription for governing.

One thing we know for certain: this president will not bring about a miraculous cure for what ails this nation and the world. The hype and fawning might for a time, I believe, propagandize us with the allusion that a miracle cure is in the offing. All of the celebratory media glorification that has gone on since Mr. Obama’s being elected, however, won’t alter the truth from God’s prophetic Word. The world is headed toward the abyss –the tribulation hour of Daniel 9:27, and Jesus’ forewarning as recorded from His Olivet Discourse: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matt. 24:21).

Yet, there will be an attempt to save mankind–by humanistic, global governance. We see the beginnings of the crisis–and it is economic, because the root of all evil is the love of money—that is driving the nations toward a monumental crisis that will eventuate in the rule of the one termed “the beast” in Revelation, Chapter 13.

The White House is promising new reviews of the “obligations” to the government by broadcasters who “occupy the nation’s spectrum” just as the president has targeted conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh for a public attack, raising concerns over the possible restoration of the “Fairness Doctrine,” a policy that failed as unneeded and unconstitutional two decades ago.

Paul Ibrahim of NorthStarWriters.com cited Obama’s warning to congressional Republicans that “you can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done” in suggesting the president has become the “driving force” behind a new “systematic” plan to “intimidate and demonize Obama’s opponents.”

That such a campaign was launched only days after Obama’s inauguration is “tremendously perturbing,” he wrote. “Welcome to the politics of hope ‘n’ change. Obama’s startling attempt to hang Limbaugh’s scalp on the wall is a warning that the new ruler does not want unity–he demands it,” Ibrahim wrote.

The Telegraph is reporting that British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has brought the country to the brink of bankruptcy. Christopher Monckton, the Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, agrees. He says the Labor Party’s continual borrowing for social programs is to blame.” Every Labor government there has ever been from 1926 to the present day has always ended in exactly the same way because they essentially try to run a communist financial system,” he contends, “and it doesn’t work any better here than it worked in the Soviet Union.”
 
He adds that hope does not trump experience. “We have politicians who simply haven’t had enough experience in the real world before going into politics to know how things run, to know how many beans make five,” Monckton notes. Monckton says U.K. markets are starting to realize that tax revenue is collapsing, which in turn makes investment in debt undesirable.
 
“So you’ve got government revenues collapsing and government expenditures rocketing because not only do they have to pay the cost of unemployment and other very lavish benefits for people who are no longer employed,” he points out, “they’re also having to pay eye-wateringly large sums to bail out the banks whom overspending and over-regulation drove under.” He believes the U.S. is poised for the same collapse should they hold fast to a doctrine of socialism.
 
“She is a large, and for the time being, a relatively prosperous nation, and I think that the likelihood I’m afraid is that Obama is going to change that for the worse. He has all the kindliness intentions I have no doubt; the left usually do,” he adds. “They would love to have motherhood and apple pie, as would we all. But they are so busy working out how to distribute the apple pie, that they never think about the people who are going to have to roll up their sleeves and bake it. And that’s the difficulty with socialism. It is all about redistribution and not about generation of wealth.”

There is much buzz lately about the so-called “New Atheism.”  This seems to be an odd term given the fact that there are not very many ways that a person can spin atheism – old atheism denied the existence of God and new atheism does the same, so what is the difference?  There is a sense in which even old atheism is new; after all, until the Enlightenment of the eighteenth century real atheists were hard to find.  It is true that practical atheism can be traced throughout history.  Psalm 14:1 speaks of such a man, termed a fool, who says in his heart, “There is no God.”  Most see this fool not as a philosophical atheist who mentally denies the existence of God, but as one who lives as if God does not exist, even though intellectually he knows better.  Of course the practical atheist is far more common than those who adopt atheism as a worldview.  Most people, especially in the Western world, give God a nod (92 percent of Americans say they believe in God), then go about living their lives as if God was nonexistent.  Unfortunately, too many Christians fall into this category (but that is another matter).

Biblically speaking, the whole issue of atheism is problematic.  Romans 1:18-23 indicates that God has situated His creation so as to be a constant reminder of His existence. That a few deny this evidence does not diminish the fact that to some degree they know better.  And Romans 2:15 confirms what we already know to be true, that God has placed in the hearts of each of us a moral standard – His fingerprints are found on our conscience.  A human is not just another mammal; we are different; we bear the marks of the image of God and on some level even self-avowed atheists know this to be true. But such is the hardening of the flesh and the blinding power of the evil one that some can turn their backs on what they intuitively know to be true and create a worldview that eliminates God altogether.  That New Atheism is gaining traction among many such people is evidenced by the sales of this genre of books and the attention afforded its leaders.  More of this in a moment, but first let’s turn to old atheism for a backdrop.

For nearly a month, Israel has launched a military campaign against Hamas fighters. Acting out of pure frustration, the Israeli military sent in troops into the Gaza strip to try to put an end to the barrage of rockets and missiles being fired into its territory. The Israelis have certainly not acted in haste. They endured 6,000 projectile attacks over an eight-year period before taking action.

Israel’s years of restraint have not helped it in the battle for world opinion. In many parts of the globe – particularly in the Arab nations – the Jewish state is being condemned as a bully picking on a weaker neighbor. Several nations have suspended diplomatic contacts with Israel over the Gaza operation.

Last week, the UN Human Rights Council voted to condemn Israel. The resolution called the offensive in the Gaza Strip a “grave” human rights violation against the Palestinians. It made no mention of Hamas or its violations of Israeli civilians’ rights by firing rockets into Israel. Thirty-three African, Asian, Arab, and Latin American countries voted for the resolution. Thirteen European states abstained, while Canada was the only country that voted against it.

During a visit to the Mikve Yisrael School in Holon, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert reacted to the vote by saying, “They have no right to reproach us and to try and tell us how to defend our citizens. I don’t think our demands are exaggerated. We share the right of every state in the world to protect its citizens. We’re not asking any other country’s permission or approval in order to protect our residents.”

Throw another morsel of intrigue onto the end-times stove of what’s cooking in the phenomenal progression of prophetic stage-setting this generation is witnessing. Turkey is this week’s food for thought while we consider where the world presently stands upon God’s prophetic timeline.

Interest in the nation Turkey among students of Bible prophecy emanates from the foretelling about the Gog-Magog war of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. There, the prophet presents a list of the nations who will invade the Middle East region from the north of Jerusalem. This coalition intends to take spoil from that region, and particularly intends to obliterate the nation Israel, according to Ezekiel.

The prophet gave the following account of the nations involved, as God the Holy Spirit gave him the vision of that end-of-days assault.

“And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee” (Ezek. 38:4-6).

“Rosh” will be the nation of the leader”Gog,” around which these many peoples will coalesce. We believe that chief nation to be Russia, based upon much study that has been done on the ancient names involved in the prophecy. We have become relatively familiar with some of the other nations involved. For example, we know that modern Iran is the country that now occupies most of the geographic area of ancient Persia. The nation God’s prophet calls “Togarmah” is the one in view in today’s news headlines. It is this nation out of this coalition on which we will concentrate for now.

Bible Prophecy Update:
Israel Discovers “Inconceivably Huge Quantities” of Natural Gas Reserves Off Haifa, Hamas Agrees To Ceasefire, Russia Moves To Ally With Libya

(Erbil, Iraq) — Greetings from Iraq. I’ve been here for the last few days doing some final research for the Inside The Revolution documentary film we’re working on. More on that in a future post. First, I need to note that it’s been a dramatic few days here in the epicenter, especially for those interested in the prophecies of Ezekiel 38-39.

Consider the following:

1. “LIVING SECURELY IN THE LAND” – As I wrote about several days ago, there are intriguing implications of Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza for the fulfillment of major Bible prophecies. This war could lead to: A) the toppling of Hamas in favor of a moderate leadership in Gaza (possible, but doubtful at this stage); or B) a cease fire between Israel and a weakened Hamas that truly holds for the next several years, and provides Israeli citizens on the southern border a real measure of safety and security (still too early to say, but increasingly possible given the events of the last 23 days and the last 48 hours). If either of these events happen, then a major precondition of Ezekiel 38-39 could come to pass in the not-too-distant future. The prophecy requires that: A) Israel is reborn as a nation (which happened in 1948); B) Jews are returning to the Holy Land after centuries of exile (this has been happening since the end of the 19th century); and C) Israelis are finally “living securely in the land” — meaning Israelis may not have true, lasting formal peace with all of its neighbors, but Israeli citizens feel more safe and more comfortable and relaxed than ever before. Most Israelis actually already feel this way today, except for those along the Gaza border. Despite all the wars and rumors of wars in the region, the vast majority of Israelis are going to the malls, going to the movies, going to the beaches, going about their daily lives feeling that the Jewish State is more stable and secure today than at any time in the past sixty years. If Israelis in the south begin to feel this level of security, too, things could get quite interesting from the perspective of Bible prophecy.

2. ISRAEL MAKES ENORMOUS AND “HISTORIC” DISCOVERY OF NATURAL GAS OFF HAIFA — Ezekiel 38-39 has another precondition that has to happen before the “War of Gog and Magog” can begin — Israel must be notably prosperous.  In my first non-fiction book, Epicenter, I noted that Israel is already far more prosperous than her immediate neighbors, the Palestinians, the Egyptians, the Jordanians, the Syrians and the Lebanese. But I speculated that it was possible that the Israel will get far more prosperous to fully satisfy this prophetic precondition. I further noted that based on a series of Bible prophecies, Israel will make major discoveries of petroleum in “the last days” (something that was a fictional part of The Last Jihad series, as well). Consider, then, this remarkable story on today’s Jerusalem Post website: “Three massive gas reservoirs have been discovered 80 kilometers off the Haifa coast, at the Tamar prospect, Noble Energy Inc. announced on Sunday….Speaking on Army Radio Sunday morning, an exhilarated Yitzhak Tshuva, owner of the Delek Group Ltd, one of the owners of the well, called the discovery ‘one of the biggest in the world,’ promising that the find would present a historic land mark in the economic independence of Israel. ”I have no doubt that this is a holiday for the State of Israel. We will no longer be dependent [on foreign sources] for our gas, and will even export. We are dealing with inconceivably huge quantities; Israel now has a solution for the future generations,’ Tshuva added. An ecstatic Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said before the weekly cabinet meeting that the discovery was a ‘historic’ one and could ‘change the face of Israeli industry.’….Following the announcement of the discover, shares of Delek Drilling jumped up 80%, while shares of Isramco Negev 2 skyrocketed by an unprecedented 120 percent. The rest of the Tel Aviv stock market also saw huge gains, with the TA-Index 100 climbing nearly 4 percent.” It’s too soon to draw any conclusions, but I do think this is a story worth watching closely.

3. RUSSIA IS BUILDING ALLIANCES WITH IRAN, LIBYA, SYRIA AND LEBANON, AS HATRED OF ISRAEL GROWS — The prophecies found in Ezekiel 38-39 further tell us that Russia (Magog), Iran (Persia), Libya (Put), and Turkey (Gomer) will all form alliances together, before eventually trying to attack Israel from the North. To come from the North, they need to come through Syria and Lebanon, which means either Syria and Lebanon are active members of the coalition against Israel, or they have been overrun by military forces of the Russian-Iranian alliance. Again, I describe all this in detail in Epicenter, but it’s worth considering the following headlines in recent days:

National Security Cabinet votes in favor of unilateral ceasefire in Gaza, to take effect early Sunday; Olmert says Hamas hit hard, operation’s objectives fully met. IDF troops to remain in Strip for time being.

After 21 days, Israel declares end to fighting: The National Security Cabinet voted Saturday evening to end the military operation in the Gaza Strip. Seven ministers supported the decision, two others objected, and one abstained.

In a statement following the vote, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Israel fully achieved the operation’s objectives, adding that the IDF will end its military operations at 2 am Sunday. The prime minister noted that Hamas sustained hard blows during the operation, adding that the group is an offshoot of Iran.

“Iran, with its weapons smuggling, attempted to do with Hamas what it did with Hizbullah in Lebanon,” he said. “This is not a ceasefire with Hamas. These are understanding with elements in the international community which Hamas, as an illegitimate entity, has no place to be involved in.”

However, a Hamas representative said the group will continue to fight as long as Israeli soldiers remain in the Strip. “If the Israeli military continues its existence in the Gaza Strip, that is a wide door for the resistance against the occupation forces,” Hamas representative in Lebanon Osama Hamada told al-Jazeera television.
