Report From Inside The Gaza War: IDF Says Worst Is Yet To Come

Last night, I received a report by email from an evangelical friend in the Israeli town of Sderot, located on the southern border with Gaza. “Yesterday was a day full of
explosions on both sides [of the border],” he wrote. “I have temporarily moved out of my apartments [and] am staying with a friend with a bomb shelter maybe 30 feet away….I realize more and more that I am not in control of my life and I am thankful that G-d is. Between tank fire and jets flying overhead it is a bit nerve-wracking, but again I know who holds my life in His hand and I know I need to be about my Father’s business….We have been told that the worst is yet to come and we should plan on having enough food on hand until the end of March….Just as He has always been to His children in the past, I know once again He will be faithful — that’s who He is, the Faithful One.”

On Saturday, I received an email from a Jewish friend who also lives in Sderot. “I just finished reading the Flash Traffic you’ve sent today,” he wrote. “Being held here in Sderot since this morning under marshal law, it was one of the good things that I enjoyed today and your report was excellent. I also join you in prayer tha the leaders here will have the wisdom and courage to destroy terrorists…in Hamastan-ruled-Gaza….We are under fire, but we know that He will protect us.”

The Joshua Fund is doing everything we can to stand with these and other friends and to let them know that they are not alone. We are mobilizing evangelical Christians all over the world to pray for peace on the Israel-Gaza border and to show unconditional love and unwavering support. We are asking you and others to continue praying for wisdom and courage for Israel’s leaders as they seek to decimate the Hamas terrorist infrastructure and reacquire the deterrence factor lost during the 2006 war with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Please pray for the half million Israelis living within rocket and missile range of Gaza. They and their children have no idea what today and tomorrow hold.  Pray for the Lord to comfort and calm their hearts. Please pray for the 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza, many of whom find themselves trapped in the crossfire of a war that Hamas started but that they as individuals and families don’t want. Please pray for the wounded on both sides, and the families who have lost loved ones. Please also lift up the believers in Jesus in Israel and Gaza who are seeking the Lord’s strength to help them love their neighbors and their enemies in real and practical ways in the name of Jesus. Pray that the believers can be lights in the darkness, bringing good news and hope to those who feel hopeless and alone. Finally, please pray that the Lord would be gracious to provide our Joshua Fund leadership team with wisdom to know how best to help those who are now victims of war and terrorism, and sufficient financial resources to meet those needs quickly and wisely.

Hamas is committed to wiping Jewish Israelis off the map forever.

“Out there in America, where only three in 10 people attend weekly worship services and millions are ignorant of the Bible [Young's The Shack] readers struggle to find a good God amid their pain.”–”‘Shack’ opens doors, but critics call book scripturally incorrect’,” Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA Today [bold added].

In today’s post-modern/Emergent “discussion,” we constantly find a sentiment that all that has ever been known or understood about God must be done away with; or at least questioned. I’m all for each generation searching out the reasons why they “believe,” but just not casting off the Bible, which will serve as the cornerstone of their search!

When we are finally introduced to the author’s “godhead” in chapter 5, entitled “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” Mack (on his way to his meeting with “Papa” at the shack) tells his friend Willie, “ I’ve always sort of pictured him (God) as a really big grandpa with a long white flowing beard, sort of like Gandalf in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings” (p.73). This is actually a very wonderful point of reference for the reader, since we all probably have our own image of what God might look like (Charlton Heston maybe?). I appreciate Young’s transparency here, but when Mack actually arrives at his appointment with the deity, we are introduced to a scene that serves to further distance the reader from Scripture, ushering them even closer to a subjective, existential image of a god who refuses to be governed even by his/her/it’s own Word.

Young records the details of their first meeting: “… the door flew open, and he was looking directly into the face of a large beaming African-American woman” (p.82); “I have really been looking forward to seeing you face to face,” gushes the female “Papa.”

My mind immediately leaped to the Scriptural encounters with God experienced by the Apostles Paul and John. Paul’s meeting was with a glorious Being who revealed “I am Jesus” — an experience that left the bloodthirsty rabbi fasting and blind for three days (Acts 9). In John’s case (recorded in Revelation chapter 1) when the glorified Christ appeared to him, the exiled Apostle “fell at His feet as though dead”! These Scriptural accounts are a far cry from Young’s hermaphroditic deity that gives bear hugs and bakes pies.

Mack is then introduced to an oriental woman named “Sarayu” (meant to be the Holy Spirit), and finally a “jesus” figure, who “appeared Middle Eastern and was dressed like a laborer, complete with tool belt and gloves” (p.84). As Mack’s spiritual eyes continue to adjust to the glare of the new “light” of this “god’s” nature, Papa instructs:

Predictions

Political Correctness and Freedom of Speech

The first thing that Socialists do when they gain power is try to silence speech. Conservative radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Laura Ingram, Lou Dobbs, etc. are already being criticized by “Progressives” in Congress. This is serious effort underway right now to bring back a failed law, the oxymoronic “Fairness Doctrine” in a bold, open attempt to silence opposing political views. Internet news sites such as WorldNetDaily.com, NewsWithNews.com, DrudgeReport.com, InfoWars.com and many others will be silenced along with talk radio. In order for darkness (lies) to prevail, light (truth) has to be snuffed out.

Public scrutiny and criticism of elected officials will be forbidden. Any person exposing political corruption will be labeled anti-government. If they persist in attempting to correct that political corruption, they will be called a terrorist. All police departments around the country will b required to have terrorist units.

[In a communist country of my birth I remember that one could criticize any capitalist country one wishes as long as it wasn't yours or another communist country. Criticism of any official brought police in black uniform to your door usually at night when everyone was asleep.]

Religious Persecution and Sharia Law

Traditional churches will be attacked by Socialist, Feminists and Homosexuals. Christians will increasingly be ridiculed and called bigots because of their religious beliefs. Church services will be regularly disrupted. Under pressure, many church leaders will give-in, capitulating for the sake of peace. They will give up their moral principals, or face the anti-discrimination laws that will be passed to force churches, organizations and people to comply with the immoral doctrines of the socialist, secular humanists.

Since Christians are extremely apathetic today anyway, Islam will begin to become “acceptable” as an alternative to Christianity in America. It’s already spreading like wildfire in American prisons. Islamic (religious) Sharia law has gained a foothold in Great Britain and other European countries, with little or no opposition from Christian leadership. Sharia Law is not compatible with the U.S. Constitution or America’s concept of religious freedom.

I didn’t realize it then, but I now believe that God’s gift of discernment triggered a “something isn’t right here” deep inside of me that I just could not ignore. I can remember asking myself questions like, “Is the true Gospel this popular? Had it been this popular in the past throughout history? And will it be this popular in the future as we approach the last days?” As I did my homework in the subsequent days to follow, the answer that I came to was a resounding “NO!”

Since that time, I have spent many hours researching the doctrines of Rick Warren and have found plenty to be concerned about other than just the popularity issue.

The truth found in the Bible is under attack like never before. It always has been since the first assault on truth in the Garden of Eden when the serpent first tempted Eve questioning what God really said. And ever since then, false teachings and movements have always threatened the truth from Adam and Eve, to the 1st century church, to the 21st century church. Why? Because Satan hates truth.

If you study the Bible and church history, you will find that many of the false teachings and movements that are threatening the church today are really nothing new and are simply repackaged false teachings and movements from long ago with different teachers and different packaging. That’s because Satan is not an author or originator. He’s nothing more than a counterfeiter of truth and the father of lies.

And he’s counterfeiting the truth successfully in many parts of the church today because the shepherds and sheep alike have not taken the time to study these threats found in the Bible or church history. Thus, false teachings and movements are alive and well in many churches today due to a lack of Biblical discernment.

If you do your homework, you can trace many of the current false teachings and movements that are threatening the church today back to the teachings of Nobel Peace Prize winner, Norman Vincent Peale, which trace all the way back to the early church and to the Garden of Eden where all false teachings and movements have their root source in unbelief.

Many Christians are unaware that Norman Vincent Peale (Positive Thinking Movement) influenced Robert Schuller (Self-Esteem Movement) who influenced Bill Hybels (Seeker Sensitive and Church Growth Movement) and C. Peter Wagner (New Apostolic Reformation and Church Growth Movement) who influenced Rick Warren (Seeker Sensitive and Church Growth Movement) who influenced our latest movement in the church Brian McClaren (Emerging Church Movement).

And mixed in with many of these movements is of course a movement that has been around for a long time and that’s the Word of Faith movement-better known as the health, wealth and prosperity gospel that was started by Kenneth Hagen, who plagiarized the writings of E.W. Kenyon and who’s teachings are being carried out today by people like Kenneth Copeland, Oral Roberts, Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Todd Bentley, Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar and many other Word of Faith teachers.

Discernment in the church today has almost disappeared because many Christians are no longer Bereans, who if you remember, in the book of Acts studied the scriptures daily to see if what Paul was saying was true. The Bereans were even more noble than the Thessalonians. They received the word with all readiness of mind. And yet sadly, much of the church today is Biblically illiterate and have stopped using their minds.

Let’s be honest. How many of us go home on Sundays after hearing our pastor preach and at some point during the course of the following week take time to study the scriptures at all, let alone daily, to see if what our pastor was saying is true? This is precisely how deception has come into the church today and why it is alive and well. Somewhere along the line we stopped being Bereans, we stopped receiving with word with all readiness of mind.

Discernment ministries from all over the world, including this one, had serious concerns about Ted Haggard (former Senior Pastor of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO) several years before his fall and likewise, discernment ministries from all over the world have had serious concerns about Rick Warren for the past several years. Amazingly, but not surprising when you read what the Bible has to say about the last days, many parts of the church just don’t seem to want to listen. Can anybody say Laodicea?

Below is a column adapted from a letter Joseph Farah wrote to Rick Warren last week about his agreement to offer the invocation at the inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama on January 20, 2009 entitled, “An Open Letter To Rick Warren.”

I must confess I share Farah’s profound and abject revulsion at Rick Warren’s agreement to offer the invocation at the inauguration of President-Elect Obama. Where are the Nathan’s of our day? I can’t imagine Jesus giving an invocation at the inauguration of such a man who is clearly an enemy of the Bible-the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.
I can’t even begin to comprehend why Rick Warren is so ready, willing and eager to do this as a professed “pastor of the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and a “brother in the Lord.”

It’s clearly time for Rick Warren to decide whether he stands with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob or if he stands with the world and his “friend,” Barack Hussein Obama. It’s time for the true church to wake up, stand up and steer clear of Rick Warren’s false teachings of a humanistic gospel that is really no gospel at all. It’s time to be Bereans again and Biblically discern the teachings of Rick Warren.

Somebody once said that time is the best test for everything. And since God is the author and creator of time, I have found time to be incredibly effective in discerning the false teachings and movements that have been coming into the church over the past several years at incredible speed. Time tested Norman Vincent Peale. Time tested Robert Schuller. Time tested Bill Hybels. Time tested C. Peter Wagner. Time tested Ted Haggard. Time tested Todd Bentley. Time is testing the Emerging Church Movement. Time has tested a lot of false teachings and movements throughout history.

And time will test Rick Warren.

I understand you want this to be a time of “healing” for our nation. I understand you consider Obama to be your “friend.” I understand your desire to bring “civility” to our society. Jesus said in the Gospel of John 14:1-2: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” It is my prayer that no one who happens to read this work will give in to the temptation to exchange the glory of God’s Mansions for Mr. Young’s existential SHACK.

First of all, the cover itself yields our first point. What is this book? Is it testimony, mystery, theology, Christology… or does it make any such assertions at all? Eugene Peterson (of The Message Bible paraphrase fame), at the very bottom of the book’s cover, makes the statement: “This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress did for his. It’s that good.”

Let me simply say that after reading it I sincerely hope that it does not. John Bunyan wrote his truly Christian classic Pilgrim’s Progress while in prison for the sake of the Gospel, and every word was rooted in the Scriptures. Each person and place represented within the story was an archetype of orthodox Christian doctrines rooted in the revelation of God that we call The Bible. “Pilgrim” becomes “Christian” at the foot of the Cross of Jesus Christ and begins his journey towards “the Celestial City” — his ultimate goal. On his way he encounters much temptation, personified in his detour into places such as “Vanity Fair.” Pilgrim’s Progress remains one of the most profound allegory/parables in the history of the church. However, Bunyan never took concrete, propositional truths of Scripture and morphed them into hip, existential discussions between a questioning man and a godhead consisting of two women and a Middle-Eastern carpenter.

Since 1979, the Iranian regime has repeatedly threatened Israel and has defied the United Nations in its attempts to sideline Tehran’s nuclear program.  Now, Iran is pre-emptively rejecting President-elect Obama’s “carrot-and-stick” diplomacy, which creates a diplomatic impasse.  

Military action may be the only means to keep Tehran from becoming an atomic power, and Israel appears to be the only nation willing to take such action.

The angels’ joyful announcement was worthy of a Heavenly King. But how do we celebrate His majesty? The world’s preparation for Christmas shuts Him out. Jesus, our Lord-the long awaited Messiah-simply doesn’t fit today’s vision of pluralism. That’s why signs and symbols of the celebration bearing His name have been censored from schools and public places from coast to coast.

Bush Says He Doubts Bible Literally True (Click Here)

Now let’s unpack some of President Bush’s responses. If you are a discerning Christian, five major things should jump off the page at you triggering that “You Have Got To Be Kidding Me” mechanism in the deepest part of your being. First, President Bush said his belief that God created the world is not incompatible with scientific proof of evolution.

Secondly, interviewer Cynthia McFadden from ABC’s, “Nightline” asked President Bush if he believed the Bible was literally true. His answer was and I quote, “You know, probably not. No, I’m not a literalist, but I think you can learn a lot from it, but I do think that the New Testament for example is…has got…you know, the important lesson is ‘God sent a son,’” Bush said. “It is hard for me to justify or prove the mystery of the Almighty in my life,” he said. “All I can just tell you is that I got back into religion and I quit drinking shortly thereafter and I asked for help…I was a one step program guy.”

Third, President Bush says that he prays to the same God as those with different religious beliefs. “I do believe there is an almighty that is broad and big enough and loving enough that can encompass a lot of people,” Bush said.

Fourth, President Bush said he is often asked whether he thinks he was chosen by God to be president. His answer was and I quote, “I just, I can’t go there,” he said. “I’m not that confident in knowing, you know, the Almighty, to be able to say, Yeah, God wanted me of all the other people.”

Fifth, He also said the decision to go to war in Iraq was not connected to his religious beliefs. He said, “You can’t look at the decision to go into Iraq apart from, you know, what happened on Sept. 11. It was not a religious decision,” he said. “I don’t view this as a war of religion. I view this as a war of good, decent people of all faiths against people who murder innocent people to achieve a political objective.”

Do these sound like answers from a true born again Christian?

Does President Bush know that Creation and Evolution are not compatible? Does he know that the Bible is literally true? Does he know that the God of the Bible-the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob is not the same God of other religious beliefs such as Muslims, Hindu’s and Buddhists? Does he know that all the authorities have been established by God? Does he know that the war on terrorism in fact really is a religious war?

Does he know that God has specifically commanded not to divide Israel? And does he know the role Israel will play in the last days as prophesied in Psalm 83, Ezekiel 38 & 39 and the final battle that will play out on the world stage at Armageddon?

The answer is clearly no.

Bush on their report, which accuses his administration of failing to treat possible biological attacks with the same priority as the spread of nuclear weapons. The report, World at Risk, calls for decisive global action to address the threat and urges the creation of a new post in the White House that would focus solely on overseeing government efforts to prevent an attack with weapons of mass destruction.”

Excerpt: “On November 9, 2008, the London daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi reported, citing ‘a source close to the Al-Qaeda leadership in Yemen,’ that Osama bin Laden had ordered a new attack on the U.S. which will be “far greater than the 9/11 attacks.’ The paper said the source was ‘a former Al-Qaeda commander who is still in touch with…the organization leadership, and who asked to remain anonymous for security reasons.’”

3) New York Times: “Iran Said to Have Nuclear Fuel for One Weapon”

Excerpt: “Iran has now produced roughly enough nuclear material to make, with added purification, a single atom bomb, according to nuclear experts analyzing the latest report from global atomic inspectors. The figures detailing Iran’s progress were contained in a routine update on Wednesday from the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has been conducting inspections of the country’s main nuclear plant at Natanz. The report concluded that as of early this month, Iran had made 630 kilograms, or about 1,390 pounds, of low-enriched uranium.

’They clearly have enough material for a bomb,’ said Richard L. Garwin, a top nuclear physicist who helped invent the hydrogen bomb and has advised Washington for decades. ‘They know how to do the enrichment. Whether they know how to design a bomb, well, that’s another matter.’”

4) Jerusalem Post: “IDF Preparing Options for Iran Strike”

The report suggests Israeli military commandres are actively drafting options for a massive airstrike against Iranian nuclear facilities that would presuppose no support whatsoever from the U.S. once Barack Obama takes office as President. Excerpts: “‘It is always better to coordinate,’ one top Defense Ministry official explained last week. ‘But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination.’

Israeli officials have said it would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without receiving codes from the US Air Force, which controls Iraqi airspace. Israel also asked for the codes in 1991 during the First Gulf War, but the US refused. ‘There are a wide range of risks one takes when embarking on such an operation,’ a top Israeli official said. Several news reports have claimed recently that US President George W. Bush has refused to give Israel a green light for an attack on Iranian facilities.

One such report, published in September in Britain’s Guardian newspaper, claimed that Prime Minister Ehud Olmert requested a green light to attack Iran in May but was refused by Bush.” Iranian officials, however, indicate that are not worried, believing that prevailing geopolitical conditions make it unlikely for Israeli leaders actually to order an attack.”We think that regional and international developments and the complicated situation faced by Israel itself will not allow it to launch military strikes against other countries,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi told reporters in Teheran, according to the Press TV Web site. “Israel makes threats to promote its psychological and media warfare,” he said.

Excerpt: “Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan following the 11/26 Mumbai terror attacks, Pakistani nuclear scientist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand spoke of the readiness of Pakistani missiles and of their capability to target Indian cities. Dr. Mubarakmand, who has steered the Pakistani nuclear program for the past several decades alongside disgraced nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, expressed his views during a talk show.”
